How to Use Magic Links for Seamless Login

Magic Links allow you to send a special login link to a member via email. When they click it, they’re automatically signed into your membership site — no password required.

This is especially useful when onboarding new members. Instead of asking someone to create or remember a password right after a purchase, you can include a magic link directly in your welcome email and send them straight to their membership dashboard in a single click.

There are two ways to use Magic Links in Memberium Universal:

1. Automated via HighLevel — The magic link is generated automatically when a new member is created, stored in a HighLevel custom field, and sent inside a welcome email through a HighLevel automation. This is the recommended approach for getting new members into your site for the first time after a purchase or registration.
2. Self-service via Shortcode — Place the [memb_request_magic_link] shortcode on any page to create a simple form where existing members can enter their email address and receive a magic link on demand. This is a convenient passwordless login option you can offer on an ongoing basis.

Quick Setup Overview

1. Under Membership Settings > Magic Links, enable Auto Generate for New Users and set your default redirect. Enable Advanced Mode if you don’t see all available settings.
2. In HighLevel, go to Settings > Custom Fields and create a new single-line text field (e.g., “Magic Link”) under Contact.
3. Back in Memberium, go to Membership > HighLevel and set the Magic Link Sync Field to the field you just created.
4. In your HighLevel automation, fire the Create Member Webhook first, add a short wait step (at least 1 minute) to give Memberium time to generate and store the link, then send a welcome email that includes the magic link field as a merge tag.

Note: The wait step between the webhook and the email is important — it gives Memberium time to generate the magic link and write it to the HighLevel custom field before the email goes out.
